Recent storms underline the need for lightning protection

There has been considerable damage wreaked across the UK by Storm Abigail and Hurricane Kate over the last week. On top of the strong winds and very real threat of flooding, many had to face these two challenging issues with no electricity supply at home. In many of cases, it wasn’t the winds or rain that caused the loss of electricity, but rather the damage caused by lightning strikes. Whilst massive storms like this are an unavoidable part of our lives, there are lessons we can learn about preparing to face them, such as installing lighting and surge protection systems in our homes.

Although technology has advanced far enough to allow us to predict and plan for these kinds of weather events, it remains impossible to predict the nature or pattern of lightning strikes. As there are approximately 100 lighting strikes around the world every second, it is highly unlikely that we will ever have a system that can identify, predict and warn people exactly where and when it will strike. As evasive action is simply not possible, it’s important to ensure protective measures against lightning strikes are always present.

We take the approach of assuming protection is required at all times. In other words, rather than focusing on where lightning may strike, our services are solely focused on ensuring your power supply and electrical equipment are always protected against any possible strike or power surge. Our protection systems give you the comfort of knowing that no matter how severe weather conditions may get, you are as prepared as possible to withstand the damage they can cause.

We are committed to delivering a world class standard of lightning and surge protection at affordable pricing because we care for the well-being and safety of home and business owners across the country. As we are unable to stop storms like these from hitting, our focus is on protecting people and properties as effectively as possible.
